Hi everyone. I hope that this can be a useful community for folks considering laminate flooring. To kick it off, I propose a poll... BTW, if you clicked other, use this topic to tell me which one. If you clicked that you aren't sure you want laminate, let us know what you are choosing between? For me it was between carpet and laminate. I'm curious.
Hi, Torque.
I am going to floor my 1800 sq. ft. basement. Originally, I was going to do it with porcelain tile, since I'm pretty handy laying tile, but then I kept hearing good stuff about laminate, so I started getting excited. Now after doing research, I'm hearing stories about people getting a couple of drops of water on the floor and the stain never coming off, about flooring bowing up because of small leaks, etc. Stuff like that is pretty discouraging. I have hardwood and tile all upstairs, and it's never given me a problem, even with dog pee behind a chair for several days in a back room. In fact, I'd say it's safe to say there is commonly various types of water spilled on both my tile and hardwood, and never a problem.
I'm not sure at this point. I think I can install laminate, but am almost afraid to. And the only other thing I'm good at is tile, but it's too cold for a basement floor. I really feel stuck.
