Chose Mohawk Duraloc. New product had woodgrain textures, etc... Tabs lockand are glued as well. Seems to be quite nice. Chose the mid-grade product to avoid the surprisngly thin topsheet on other products.
 Problems with floor separating, Manufacture very slow, it's slippery, it dents beneath chairs, chips and breaks easily on installation, moisture is definite problem. Instructions say no glue, manufacturer says separation is installation problem, but offered two more packages of flooring and some glue to fix Huh   Some local flooring companies won't install due to problems, even though they carry the brand.

Sad  Well, I installed the Costco Harmonics in my kitchen and it looked great.  Unfortunately, not too much longer, it started showing water damage.  Now I'm tearing up a 40sq/ft section out and replacing it.  This time I'm using Elmer's ProBond interior/exterior wood glue to glue it together.  It seems to work very well, but it does make it harder to snap together.  I think it's the consistency of the glue.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi everyone.  I hope that this can be a useful community for folks considering laminate flooring.  To kick it off, I propose a poll...  BTW, if you clicked other, use this topic to tell me which one.  If you clicked that you aren't sure you want laminate, let us know what you are choosing between?  For me it was between carpet and laminate.  I'm curious.

Hi, Torque.

I am going to floor my 1800 sq. ft. basement.  Originally, I was going to do it with porcelain tile, since I'm pretty handy laying tile, but then I kept hearing good stuff about laminate, so I started getting excited.  Now after doing research, I'm hearing stories about people getting a couple of drops of water on the floor and the stain never coming off, about flooring bowing up because of small leaks, etc.  Stuff like that is pretty discouraging.  I have hardwood and tile all upstairs, and it's never given me a problem, even with dog pee behind a chair for several days in a back room.  In fact, I'd say it's safe to say there is commonly various types of water spilled on both my tile and hardwood, and never a problem.

I'm not sure at this point.  I think I can install laminate, but am almost afraid to.  And the only other thing I'm good at is tile, but it's too cold for a basement floor.  I really feel stuck. Sad

I want to update the kitchen and family room flooring and am considering laminate. I have a big dog and am certain he will scratch the floors and slip on them. I have a limited budget. Any thoughts on what might be the right product for me?

:?:
What is the best way to get your laminate floors to shine?   I saw online a suggestion of a mixture of water &  vinegar & a couple drops of lemon oil?  Has anybody tried that?

Thanks,
Tabitha

Cheesy  Hello everyone I'm new to the site and wanted to share my laminate experience with you all. I always wanted the look of hardwood flooring but my condos subflooring just wood not allow for it. Recently I recenlty discovered the world on laminated flooring. I found this great site that had every type of laminate that i could think of in all colors and grains of wood. ( my pref was the Mohawk American Revival Weathered Pine) No glued, CrystalShield , Weathered Pine look with the grian and knotting just like real hardwood. I did my den which is about 420 sqft. and got the flooring for under 700 dollars delivered to my door in 7 days. That's insane I love my new floor. I'm thinking about doing my living room next !! The hardest part was getting my brother to come over and help me move the furniture. ( took a case of bud select) So here it is if you are looking for flooring i recommend that you google floormall or use this link thing i hope i did it right  Cheesy

I found some good laminate at "Mark Galdo Ceramic Tile and Flooring" company. They carry a lot of brands like Pergo, Quick Step, Witex, Mohawk, Faus Floor, Mannington. They have a hardwood/laminate/carpet department where you can find all the information about laminate from specialist. I installed my laminate in my condo which I bought from this company and I am really satisfied, it was superglossy German Laminate which i could get for a really cheap price, I looked online and figured out that my laminate costs $3.40/sq.ft. and I bought it for $1.40. You can reach them @ 610-259-0438 or visit www.MarkGaldoFloors.com
