Hello, all. While I've read many of the comments here, I haven't read them all. So, apologies in advance if this has been asked and answered already.

I'm about to install Harmonics in my bedroom. Looking over the instructions, the sequence for putting down the planks confuses me. It directs you to first lock the short end (using the 20/30 degree angle, push-down-push-in process) and then lock the long end using the same technique. I don't understand how you can lock the short end first and then raise the plank 20 or 30 degrees to lock the long end. Once the short end's locked, isn't the plank pretty much forced to lay flat? What am I missing here?

Thanks.

I have seen that same instruction on several types of flooring with the same type of simple lock mechanism.  when you install your floor just use the 30 degree method for the short end and lay it down as close as possible on the long end.  then use the tapping block to snap the rest into place.  be careful not to chip the laminate by hitting the floor too hard.  this technique will be a pain in the for the first 1/3 of the floor because you will constantly move the whole floor and loose your spacers but like you said it is almost impossable to lift the long edge once the short edge is locked.  hope this helps!  Goog luck!

I have a question. I am about to install the Harmonics laminate from Costco. I need to find a miter saw that is easy to use and handle. This is my first big project. I tried the Ryobi at Home Depot with the 10inch blade but it was to small. Anybody have any suggestions? And one more question, I want to stagger the laminate. What is a good measurement to use as a guide for staggering the laminate? Every 8 inches or so. Please help. Thanks Matt
