this is my first post here, thank you for all the great info. we are in the process of installing our Shaw laminate that we got at Jerry's, and the underlayment kit we got at Costco since it was such a great deal. We just missed the coupon for the Harmonics laminate at costco or else we would have gotten that there also.  we are installing approx 900 sq ft and we are about 2/3 of the way done.  my question is regarding the spacers that you put all along the wall to keep the flooring from being right up to the wall.
some of the spacers are in there so tight now, i don't know if we will be able to pull them out right! did we do something wrong??

also we are getting into our kitchen now and there is quite a dip in the floor, is it ok to just put an extra layer of the underlayment there to fill in that dip? any comments would be great! thanks, kathy Cheesy [/b]

As far as the spacers are concerned, you shouldn't worry too much.  Some of the spacers that we had were also pretty tight against the walls.  If you take a pair of pliers and wiggle back and forth you will eventually be able to get the spacers out.  Just be careful to not damage the wall or the flooring too much.  Take your time and it will work out.

The dip in the kitchen should have been fixed before you started laying the flooring.  There are many different techniques for leveling subfloors before installing hardwood/laminate but I won't discuss those in this message.  Putting 2 layers of the underlayment could cause the boards to "cave in" (if you will) while walking on the floor.  You could always try it and see, you can always take the boards back out and remedy the problem after you try it.  That is the benefit of this type of flooring.  Good luck.
