I am frusrated with the foot prints and paw prints on my laminate flooring. I went to the store where I purchased the flooring complaining of this. The sales rep. suggested I had cleaned the floor with a product which was not compatible with the laminate flooring. The only thing I used was water and a cotton cloth. I did this once only. No other cleaners have been used on the floor. He said swiffers and detergents will damage the floor over time.

He sold me a product which he said is specifically for laminate floors. It uses a micro fibre pad on the end of a broom handle. The instructions say to make the pad damp and thoroughly wring the pad out. the kit also comes with a spray bottle which you are supposed to spray the contents sparingly onto floor ahead of pad. Then wipe over the spray with the pad.

This seamed to work well. However after the floors were completly dry I noticed streaks which had formed on the flor which were produced form the pad and cleaning product. Also after it was completly dry and people walked on the floor the foot prints, slipper prints and paw prints became noticeable immeditaly. It should be noted that none of these marks are from dirt tracked in from outside.

I am looking for a full proof way of cleaning the floor without the prints showing up.

Does anyone have a solution? Or is the nature of the product?

It should also be noted that the flooring does not have a high gloss, does not have much texture, is a light colour and is not a cheap laminate product.

I'm not sure what brand of flooring you have or what cleaner the store you bought your flooring sold you.  The brand I've used is Pergo, I picked mine up at my local home improvement warehouse.  It has alcohol in it, which means it shouldn't leave streaks like your current brand of cleaner and it's all natural so you know it won't damage your flooring.  As for the paw and foot prints it's hard to tell if that's just the nature of the flooring itself because of the type of laminate/coating or if it's something that you should be able to get rid of using the correct cleaner.  Have you tried contacting the company that makes your floor?  If I were you, I'd try to get in touch with them and see what their technical support suggests to use.
