We recently did our living/dinning room in laminate and decided we don't like the color  .  We are kind of hoping that we can take it up and put it in our bedrooms instead. :?   The problem is we don't know if the flooring will come up and be able to reuse it... ...Anyone have any suggestions?

Tips would help too....

Hi lifting a allready laid floor is a breeze . Remember the room you are going to lay the flooring in after you take it up needs to be a bit smaller or you will need some more new flooring . Start in a corner and along one wall you will possable have to wreck the first bits to get them out but provivded it hasen't been glued together anywhere is should come up easy . Place all the full boards on a pile and of course the cut ends in another pile so you can reuse them . Take your time and look for boards that will do the job rather than having to cut whole boards as you are relaying in the next room .

This is not true FlooringNut.  If she has a Wilsonart Floor it WILL NOT be a breeze!  Wilsonart is a positive locking floor. "WHAT IS A POSITIVE LOCKING FLOOR?" you ask,  Once loced, you positively can't get it unlocked!  I exagerated a bit on the can't part - you can but the results may not be what you expect.  If the flooring is a tilt and lock floor then you will have no problem and FN is absolutly correct.  So you have to just give it a whirl, you did it once - you can do it again!  If you have any questions drop me a line ~ paragon_renovations1616@msn.com ~ sincerely James Van Raden ~ Paragon Renovations

I have taken apart laminate flooring without damaging it and sold it to others before. My way is as follows:

It is a room of 4m*4m. Take the skirting apart first. Then 3 people take the same row apart at the same time.

The laminate flooring kept well during the process and the process was very quick.

That will be a challenge, but you should be able to do it.  The important thing is also that once your old laminate floor and new laminate floors are down, to deep clean them and seal them to protect them from scratching the aluminum oxide finish and peaking (when water gets into the seams and joints).
check out the LamanatorPlus line of products for that. They are professional grade, but easy for homeowners to use also. Don't need any expensive equipment to apply it either. It comes as a kit. WE Love it....and their maintenance cleaner (Buff Dry) is awesome, no streaks, no residue build up which dulls the laminate as you probably know.
We are LamanatorPlus believers.
