Installing Dupont, First timer

New to the forum, Well I am installing Dupont tile in a kitchen and hearth room my first home and first floor project. The directions say to remove the baseboards. While I am a firm beliver in following directions on these kinds of things I have to ask if I really have to do this? I was planning on just using quarteround after I finish laying it. I guess the only problem will be the door frames b/c they tapper back and with tile I have to line up each plank with the grout lines. I also dont know where to start so I dont have half tiles.
Can anyone help out? Thanks in advance.
Eric
